Spotlight Series: Meet Christina Young

Part of Christina’s role is to engage with Joyn’s Product, Underwriting, and Distribution Teams to continually improve ease of business both internally and externally by enhancing the company’s systems and processes. This is critical as delivering on Joyn’s mission of delivering a best-in-class insurance experience requires a fast, efficient, and streamlined approach that, for example, acknowledges every submission within 24 hours.

I studied supply chain and information systems management at Penn State, and a large part of that field is optimization and pinpointing bottlenecks or pain points to increase efficiencies—which is exactly what Joyn was built to do.

Spotlight Series: Meet Christina Young

Christina Young, a new Operations Specialist on Joyn’s Operations Team, was introduced to Joyn by her brother John, who became Joyn’s first dedicated data analyst last year. Now, working alongside her brother, Christina is playing a crucial role in delivering Joyn’s one-of-a-kind experience to customers and brokers.

Prior to joining the team, Christina was an inventory analyst for Watchbox, responsible for inventory tracking, quality control, and systems accuracy. In that role, she was an active participant in designing and implementing models for process optimization and accuracy—two skillsets that will certainly make her a valuable addition to the Operations Team.

Christina earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Supply Chain and Information Systems, with a minor in Information Systems Management, from The Pennsylvania State University, graduating Cum Laude.

What does a normal day for you look like?

A normal day right now involves monitoring and processing new business submissions. But while doing that, I’m actively seeking out ways to improve this process. Moving forward, this work will continue to be one of my main focuses while I continue training in other aspects of the Operations Team’s scope.

Insurance is a new industry for you—how have your other experiences prepared you for this current role?

I studied supply chain and information systems management at Penn State, and a large part of that field is optimization and pinpointing bottlenecks or pain points to increase efficiencies—which is exactly what Joyn was built to do. I am already seeing the various ways that the technology platform Joyn has built is accomplishing so many great things and look forward to bringing my experience to help them continue building a platform that I believe will dramatically transform the industry.

What do you enjoy doing when you’re not at work?

I recently moved to a new town (Conshohocken, Penn.), which is outside of Philadelphia, so I’ve been enjoying going on walks and trying the new local food places. Aside from that, I enjoy reading, listening to podcasts, and cooking. I particularly love making stir fries and air fryer recipes, but am looking forward to trying to learn how to bake soon, starting with banana bread.
