Spotlight Series: Meet Caroline Creed

Caroline finds it interesting that no two days are alike at the startup. And she finds that having the opportunity to blur the lines of job titles and teams to work across the whole organization is a great learning opportunity.

Joyn is unlike any other company I’ve worked for or any other company I’ve experienced in this industry. Joyn has a real team of the best talent in the industry and even though I’ve only been at the company for a few months, I can see the way that they are rethinking and transforming the insurance experience for the better. Joyn’s cutting edge data and technology, combined with our human approach is really unique within the E&S space.

We are thrilled to spotlight Caroline Creed, one of Joyn’s Broker Relationship Leaders. Caroline engages with our broker partners to build trusted and valued relationships based on data insights, meaningful communication, and responsive engagement.

While she is still early in her career, Caroline already has a wealth of insurance industry experience that makes her a fantastic resource to our Joyn team and to our broker partners. Over the last five years, she has been strategically building relationships, creating profitable growth, expanding product knowledge, and leading young industry professionals as a business development manager and underwriter. In her most recent role, she managed broker relationships in the Midwest and represented numerous commercial and personal lines of business at Markel.

Caroline earned her Bachelor of Science, Business Administration in both Insurance and Risk Management as well as in Finance from the Darla Moore School of Business at The University of South Carolina. She is also a member of the Insurance Industry Charitable Foundation Associate Board.

You’ve now spent several years in the insurance industry. Can you tell us how Joyn is different and what excites you about Joyn?

Joyn is unlike any other company I’ve worked for or any other company I’ve experienced in this industry. Joyn has a real team of the best talent in the industry and even though I’ve only been at the company for a few months, I can see the way that they are rethinking and transforming the insurance experience for the better. Joyn’s cutting edge data and technology, combined with our human approach is really unique within the E&S space.

I also particularly love Joyn’s entirely remote environment which allows me to fulfill one of my personal dreams of being a “digital nomad” while still getting the important work done with my team. So far I’ve lived in Austin and Chicago, and am planning for a few months in New York City this fall. Being able to move around like this while still working also has an added benefit in that I’ve been able to build relationships and attend networking events across the country.

What does a normal day look like for you?

My days really vary depending on the week. Because Joyn is a startup, I have the opportunity to blur the lines of job titles and teams to work across the whole organization, which is exciting and a great learning opportunity. Most of my days are spent in internal meetings and strategy sessions, accessing metrics and sharing my insights with the team, engaging in broker research or broker meetings, attending networking events, and following through with action items, whether they’re specific submissions, broker onboarding, marketing materials, or reporting metrics. No day is alike which makes every day interesting.

When you’re not working, where can we find you?

I love traveling, food, volunteering, hiking, and yoga. I enjoy keeping my food Instagram (@caroleats) updated with my latest meals and am also a Big Sister as part of the Big Brothers Big Sisters program in Chicago.
